Message Envy isn't just a spa, it's a billion-dollar company that is also the biggest line of spa franchises in the country. People go for a soothing, comforting and peaceful experience only to now be guilty of seriously patched-up sexual assault lawsuits, coverups and scandals. Within the last two days, more than 180 women have come forward with stories of being groped, raped or abused during a session with their therapists. The problem has either been the lack of action the company takes to make sure this doesn't happen, or a settlement from the company to keep the victim silent. Instead of encouraging the victim to contact the police, the company will usually have someone from corporate say they'll "handle the situation" and/or give the victim a sum of money. Sometimes situations like this even result in the transfer of the therapist instead of imprisonment, fines, the job terminated and the the consequences of a law suit. For any scenario of any business, you do not get the blame for "a few bad apples", you get the blame for ignoring them, especially since many of these attackers were complained about before for inappropriate behavior from other clients. This is not okay-ignoring this is unethically sound and a legal grenade about to explode. Victims should get more than just a "we'll handle it".
