Back in September at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, there was racist profanity written outside five black cadet's message boards. In response Lt. General Jay Silveria stated: "If you cant treat someone with dignity and respect then get out." However, after an investigation into the matter, the Air Force found out that the person responsible was actually one of the victims. The cadet said that he did this so he could get out of the trouble he was already in by making it seem like he was the victim. Although this turn of events was not the best there was still the hope that the viral video of  Lt. General Jay Silveria did show how strongly the US military takes racism seriously. This shows how our crountry has improved from how it was in the 1800 when only whites could assume positions of power in the militray.
