                                                          (SUMMARY):

The number of people killed in an accidental military bombing at a Nigerian camp for displaced people has increased to 70, aid groups said on Wednesday, with at least nine of them humanitarian workers. The mistaken attack came after a military plane targeted an area crowded with people fleeing Boko Haram militants.

Medical workers were scrambling on Wednesday to assemble equipment to treat dozens of severely injured people who were still awaiting evacuation from the camp in Rann, in northeastern Nigeria. At least 120 people were hurt in the errant strike on Tuesday by the Nigerian Air Force at the camp, which is near the Cameroon border and houses about 20,000 people. Initial reports put the death toll around 50."Doctors Without Borders", a humanitarian aid group, said three employees of a Cameroonian firm that it hired to provide water and sanitation services in the camp were among the dead. Six local workers for the Nigerian Red Cross were also killed, and 13 others were hurt.

(FEEDBACK):this is terrible we should do something as a nation to help out, such a tragedy that all these people were hurt and had little to no help to fix the pressing matter

  1. What do you think could be done or what rules could be enforced to prevent these type of accidents from happening? I believe that this is very serious because those people who lost their lives will never see their family again.

This is horrible. "Accidents" like this shouldn't be happening. People shouldn't have to live being worried about the accidents their military commits.

I don’t know what would’ve changed if there was a set of rules or whatever, I’m sure there was some type of proto call- it just wasn’t followed out. I think they should build the military bas farther away from the everyday people. Maybe that would’ve stopped this tragedy from happening, but I doubt it was a simple of and accident as we see it. At least that’s what I hope.

  5. Olivia Wall- That is awful, I can't believe I didn't hear about this. I think sometimes, we get so overwhelmed with what is happening in our own country to understand and learn about other incidents world wide.

  6. This shouldn’t have happened at all- innocent people shouldn’t have died. I hope this opens their eyes to move their camps or ensure strong safety for their people.
