Jason Ike Pero | Mica Stout

Jason Ike Pero, 14, was shot and killed by Ashland County Sheriff's Deputy, Brock Mrdjenovich after receiving a call that Pero was found wandering the streets with a knife. It was said that Pero approached the officer several times, and lunged toward him with the knife while the Deputy tried to retreat. Pedro was pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center, and Mrdjenovich is now on paid administrative leave. It is said that Jason was despondent a couple of days before he was killed, and he was the one to call 911 describing himself, and how he was the one with the knife. That day he went home "ill",  and the next minute he was shot in front of Alan Pero's (grandfather) house.

In August 1982, Carl Robert Brown killed 8 people in a machine shop, because he was angry about a repair bill from the shop. This event in history relates to it because it comes to show that shootings happen for different reasons, but all relate at the same time. For example, Brown killed over anger, while Mrd. killed over his own safety.

A paragraph in the article said that Pero was a very good, and from what other people saw, happy kid. The deputy had no right to shoot TWICE, let alone kill the teen. It blows my mind that the news just writes the article so calmly, because if that's was the world is like, calmly sweeping past such events, I want to see change.

  1. I am unsure of the evidence that is provided but in this situation, it can be scary being in the place of the police officer himself with no one to call for help, it seems that the police officer has given that child more than enough chances to retreat but the child refused so the officer had to shoot him but maybe the child had kept going after the first shot and it is entirely possible for that to happen.
