The Lilly Endowment has funded the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology $2.8 million to keep its homework hotline running for middle and high school students (I believe across the country). The fund will make sure that students can call the hotline for help on mathematics and sciences until the year 2020. Tutors associated with the hotline conducted over 34,000 sessions in the years 2016-2017 alone.
I'm actually really glad that I decided to type my current event this week on this topic; I had no idea that this was a thing. I'm even more surprised that it's a non-profit organization; all the money goes to the tutors helping the students.
