Summery:
The Texas shooter at Sutherland Springs killed 26 people, including a visiting pastor. About 8 of the 26 people who were killed were from the same family. Seriff Joe Tackitt, believes that no one left the church without some sort of injury. Our governor, Greg Abbott, says this was “ the largest mass shooting”, he orders for flags across the state to fly at half-staff Monday. The victims’ ages were from 5yrs old and 72yrs old. This include the family of 8, which contained a 5month pregnant woman and her children, as well as her brother in law and his young child, and three other members. The pastors 14yrs old daughter was also killed, her parents were out of town at the time. The gunman was later found dead in his car. Donald Trump sends his condolences to the lost one’s families, he believes it was caused by the gunman’s mental illness. The gunman, possibly Devin Patrick Kelly, was apart of the Air Force until he was discharged in 2010 and had his rank reduced in 2012 for serving a year in confinement for assault on his wife and child. The article continues to on by telling it’s readers how the shooting unravels and the town’s people reaction, if you can bare reading it.
Analysis:
This article was written by Holly Yan, AnneClaire Stapleton and Darran Simon and Eyran Taylor. These people wrote everything in a matter of a fact kind of way. The point of this article was to inform it's readers of the recent terrorist attack that happened in Texas. Okay, literally, I saw a notification for this article this morning and it put me in a crappy mood all day. I didn’t read it until this afternoon because I didn’t want to be even more ticked off. But OMG are you kidding me. Ok so on the way home from Hockaday I heard the radio station, I think it was Jack FM, say “this chaos needs to end” or something like that, not even directly talking about the shooting. Not even saying there’s a place to do at, or that theyre sending their thoughts/ prayers is to the family members. Not mentioning anything, just saying some bull crap about chaos. Nah duh chaos needs to stop, do you know how to stop it though? No? Then don’t throw in your 2 incsentive cents in. It helps no one! People have been trying to stop “chaos” for years! And it’s not just commercial filled radio stations that speak like idoits, it’s almost everywhere! It’s celebrities, political people, normal people, you and me and everyone else you can think of, because it is so much easier saying we need to stop all the bad things on earth instead of just stopping them. No one thinks that hard about terrible unfortunate events until it happens to them or someone they care for. This reminds me of WW 2 when Germany asked America and England(?) - (idk if it was England) if they wanted to take in their Jews, and America said no- ( not just America but this is apush so I’m focusing on that.) Later those Jews were put into concentration camps. America didn't enter the war until after Japan attacked Perl Harbor. I not saying I think America should join in every war, or allow a large amount of immigrants into America when the world is at a depression, but, I do think that America needs to solve problems before they can happen. One way could be by making it harder for one to buy a gun, I don't think guns should be outlawed, because people will find away to break that law and buy guns, I think that getting your gun license is to easy at the moment and that there should be a set of tests to take to get a gun licence, this would include a doctor taking a look into your mental state of mind-(that was redundant). I also think Americans as a whole needs to get off our soft tushes and get to work on fixing what we AS A WHOLE eFed up on, instead of blaming it on someone. We can't just blame things we're upset about on racist, minorities, immigrants, woman, men, sexist, feminist, gun holders, liberals, people in the LGBTQ+ community, or whoever else we want to blame. This is America, we are Americans, so when something sucks in America we need to come together, like the Beatles song tells us to, and fix our mess.
If you want to learn how info about how to donate money to some the victims or victims family here is a link to find out how. (the one I keep finding is mainly for the Holcombe family, the family that lost eight members.)
