8 Dead in New York City after truck attack;
Mayor calls it an act of terror

        On October 31st, an Uzbekistan man suspected of driving the rental truck into the bike path which resulted in the deaths of 8 people and 12 wounded people. The attack happened near the original World Trade Center where the terrorist attack of 9/11 took place.  Mayor Bill de Blasio claimed that this attack was a consequence of a terrorist attack, which I can agree with since this would be the second terrorist attack that NYC has experienced. A note was found in the rental truck that the suspect was driving, which referenced the terrorist group of ISIS and yelling "Allahu Akbar" meaning "God is great." The driver hit a school bus, a vehicle, pedestrians, foreign tourists, and bicyclists. The country of Belgium has spoken about the loss of one Belgian and the 3 wounded Belgians and the country of Argentina have spoken on the loss lives of the Argentine citizens.

       It is unjustifiable how innocent people were stripped from their lives by a man who had no reasons to do so, but wanted to play the role of a villain by trying to reference the biggest terrorist group. My heart goes out the communities, families, and people affected by this incident. In addition to that, I hope the man responsible for all of this pays his time.

  1. This so sad. It is hard to believe that someone would do this to innocent people. I also hope that the man responsible is punished for actions, which are like you said, unjustifiable.

  2. Olivia Wall- That is terrible. And very interesting that they found the terrorist note inside the vehicle.
