Florida State University has an organization called SDS it's a progressive student organization that works to fight oppression across campuses in society. SDS has a goal to bring attention to murders and convictions of black men and shines light on the negligence of the police with their violent and arrest history. There was a protest recently that took place in front of the Capitol that had speeches from officers in SDS and the American Civil Liberties Union. There was a march as well.
As said in the article they think that the police should protect all of the citizens, I also think that. It reminds me of the Boston Massacre in a way, that the soldiers were supposed to protect the citizens but of course we all know that didn't happen. As for my opinion on this, I think it's great that they're bringing awareness to things like this. I was always against police brutality anyway, someone has to do something about it, even if it's only helping a little bit.
