The Simpsons and the Art of being a Class on Your Own - Skyler Tepedino

Summary:
When the Simpsons came out for the first time in 1989 people said it was the "perfect thing at the perfect time", and I totally agree. Ever since the first show aired to now there have been six hundred aired episodes of the Simpsons and it still is a very popular show today. The Simpsons family symbolizes individuality within their whole community. They all have different personalities and shapes and sizes. The makes of the show try and keep it as realistic to the current situations as possible by applying characters, mainly famous people and then making that particular show about that persons life in that moment in time. The show is also very comical, so they make funny jokes about some activity in "the now." The show has made over four billion dollars and is still earning more today. The show has also made an impact on society because sometimes they have a show that shows examples of how to make the world better or any type of good deed. This article really points out the individuality in each character and how they impact and make the show memorable.
Analysis:
I think that the Simpsons is a great concept. This idea really makes a difference in the people who constantly watch the show. Each episode has it's own meaning and when portrayed on characters that aren't your typical animated humans, it makes it even more memorable. I synthesize this series to the era of Martin Luther King Jr. when the whites were segregated from the blacks. It reminds me of this time because the whites made themselves a very distinct group and all the African Americans wanted to do was have integration and equality but still maintain their sense of self. All they wanted was to have fair rights and be able to express themselves, like the Simpson family. Marge, the mother of the family has blue hair and she's proud of that; the son, Bart, is short and he embraces it. Our world needs to appreciate what other have to offer and just get along even if they have their differences. Like the show, there needs to be more love.
