Summary: Many Ethiopian citizens came together to protest and some of the leaders of the government and chanted some anti-government chants. Tensions began to rise and police officers felt the protesters were becoming a threat so they fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters. As the large crowd of people began to disperse some of the people were killed by hurrying protesters trying to get out of the way of the gas and rubber rounds. After the dust had cleared police had counted more than 50 bodies left for dead by the charging crowd.
Synthesis: The casualties of the riot almost instantly reminded me of the events that happened leading The Boston Massacre. They both started with a somewhat peaceful protest of government officials but were quickly escalated by officers who thought the protesters were becoming a threat and reacted rather irrationally and left people dead after the incident.
