Ashburn Colored School Vandalized by Racist
In Ashburn, Virginia there is a school that was once for colored people who could not get an education during the days of segregation. Some students who attend the Loudoun School for the Gifted have been fundraising money to renovate Ashburn and make it an educational museum. So far they have raised about 25% or what they need to make to renovate the school. Sadly, this weekend some racist people vandalized Ashburn and spray-painted many cruel, contemptuous, and degrading words/ pictures on the historic school. It is sad that today in our American society that has been well-developed (or at least i thought it was) is still dealing with harsh-racism. Many of the children who attend the Loundoun School for the Gifted we hurt when they heard about the ruin. "With all the hate that was put onto the schoolhouse, it was absolutely devastating for me." ,says Taz a seventh-grader who attends LSG. The people who live in Ashburn, Virginia should be helping the school get renovated since the students are struggling to help the school. Hopefully the Ashburn Colored School will be able to be renovated soon with help from other people in the Virginian community.
