Matthew Apperson, 38, was convicted last month of attempted second-degree murder, armed aggravated assault and shooting into a vehicle during a confrontation in Lake Mary, Fla., in May 2015. The person he attempted to shoot was George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvon Martin. Apperson claims Zimmerman had instigated the altercation by even threatening to pull out his weapon first. Apparently, Apperson and Zimmerman have had an issue before; Zimmerman threatened Apperson before, yet Matthew did not press charges. Zimmerman has had a background of assualts and threats, yet no one has pressed charges. Except, when Zimmerman got charged for domestic violence by his girlfriend, who later dropped the charges.
In my opinion, this whole case is unjustified. There's so much going on into the situation where it is hard to know who is and who isn't telling the truth. The author seems to be upset with the charges because he continuosly points out the facts of Zimmerman's destructive and violent behavior. This trial kind of proves how unjust the court and police system is. This realates to many other unfair trials. Zimmerman killed a teenage boy using "self defense" when the boy had no weaponery and got off free charge. Apperson uses "self defense" and gets off. Gun violence is a growing issue in the United States, and it needs to stop.
The court system in America is truly flawed.
ReplyDeleteThis is a point that I may have brought up before, but if people don't feel safe in their own country, to be held fair trials, where could they possibly feel safe?
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this current event of details, it is disturbing that the legal book was thrown at Mr. Apperson for road rage, but Travon Martin's family could not get the same type of legal sympathy whenever Mr. Zimmerman took his life after falling and stalking this young man and baiting him into a fight, then shooting and killing him.
