Woman Burned Alive due to Witch Accusations
Summary:
Recently, in Peru, a woman was accused of being a witch, and
was later on burned alive. This was located in a remote part of the country’s
Amazon rainforest in the community of Shiringamazu. Her name was Rosa Villar
Jarionca, she was 73, and lived in a village with many other people. Rosa was
sentenced to death over claims that she made people sick through witchcraft.
The press figured out that Rosa was burned for three straight days so there
would be no trace of her. The press also found a record of the decision to burn
Rosa, this document contained many signatures and signed by the community
leaders. Also, the document said her death was to serve as an example to other
communities what this “damage” could do.

This is crazy. I can't believe she was burned for three days straight. History repeats itself!!
ReplyDeleteWhoa, this is super crazy. I really don't like to see things like this repeat themselves, and it makes me wonder if we ever really learn from the mistakes fear and history teaches us.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely reminds me of the Salem witch trials. So crazy that different areas of the world aren't as developed as other places and still do things like burning people for accusations with little to no proof.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is just terrible that people still believe silly things like this. Someone lost their life to a false accusation. This reminds meld people who were wrongly accused and sentenced to jail time.
