Emma Lochabay- Probe Hits Mars and Goes Silent

The Schiaparelli spacecraft is being waited on by European Space Agency's scientists, which was supposed to land on Mars on Wednesday. The mission control in Darmstadt, Germany never received a signal back indicating that the 1,272 pound space craft has landed on Mars. The scientists hope to get updated by Thursday after analyzing further data from other spacecrafts around, on, or near Mars. This spacecraft included necessary gadgets to help it land safe and even if it did land on the planet, the batteries will die in three to ten days. The Schiaparelli spacecraft is apart of ESA's ExoMars program and Roscomos to test their ability of landing on Mars.

This article was produced very recently and although the project that this article is about is not US's, it still is important to US history because it will hopefully provide more research and findings that are significant to US's research on Mars. Before reading this article, I have not heard of this specific spacecraft launch to Mars but I am very interested in the situation of the unknown status of the probe. This article was written to inform anyone who is interested in space science or has a general interest in this specific project. This article connects to the industrial revolution in US history when different inventions were being created and while a lot of them succeeded, a lot of them also failed like this spacecraft maybe has.
