Emily Anderson- FedEx for the moon

In this article and video published by National Geographic, Astrobots, a company combining engineering and outer space, wants to send your things to the moon. This business was started when some people heard about the XPrize give away of $20 million dollars. They wanted to win this prize to open doors for amazing opportunities, but they had no idea what their business should be about. After lots of different ideas, they came up with a vessel that can send things to the moon. That way, if another company had something they wanted to go to the moon, they could send it through Astrobots. The video focuses specifically on a group from Japan who is sending their rover in this business's vessel because they did not have enough money for a vessel themselves. The companies that can't afford a rocket to send their supplies to the moon can just pay an easier fee to Astrobots instead.
This article was very interesting to me because this is a true example of how history is being made right before our eyes. Just in the late 1960s they had sent the first man to the moon. In this video, they talk about how that historical event is like Columbus coming over to the new world. Now we are expanding upon that world, as in the moon, in the 21st century by sending supplies just like they had in the 15, 16, and 17th centuries. I also like that this company is not selfish at all. In the video, they even go as far as to say they invite their competition to add things to the vessel going to space. Overall, this is an amazing idea that is shaping the history of the U.S. and space.

  1. I agree that it is cool to see History happening right in front of us! I like your connection with Colombus coming upon the "New World" and the company sending things to the moon.
