Snow leopards are still dying and it's all the human's fault. Poachers have killed over 450 of the sweet animals since 2008, making the level of crime extremely serious. The number could possibly even be way higher than that due to the fact that some killings are undetected. This is very bad news because there are only about 4,000 of these cats left. Although many snow leopards are poached for their fur and bones, herders are actually the ones held responsible for over half of the crimes committed, killing the predators as retribution for livestock predation. These poor animals are already under much danger because global warming will likely shrink the amount of animals in their species.
This article was written on October 21st, 2016. I believe it was written to get the message across to stop poaching these animals, as the numbers of them are constantly going down. The fact that people are poaching these animals for their own good is so sad, how would you feel killing an animal so you can get money? Prior to reading this article I had known nothing about the snow leopards being poached but I hope that the people who have heard about this topic make it come to an end. This article is extremely important in order for these sweet animals to survive. This can relate to history because since 2008, 6000 rhinos have been poached for their horns.

ReplyDeleteI've never understood why people hunt for sport, and it's sad to know how many species have gone extinct at the hands of humans. Why do we find it necessary to kill off entire populations of helpless creatures? I think as a race we must learn to value other life forms much more deeply than we do, and know that just because we have the power to kill something doesn't mean we should. -Olivia Moretta
ReplyDeleteOh no! They should stop
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad! Something definitely needs to be done about this issue to maintain the species we have now, and to prevent extinction in the future. People are being greedy and inconsiderate of the animals, and it makes me sad to see how these animals are being treated!
