The Entire Toy Store -Katie Schell(flex)

original: 11-20-15

In New York a woman walked into a toy store and purchased all of the toys to donate them to the city's Department of Homeless Services. When I say the whole store I mean the WHOLE store. This is freaking amazing. A lot of people buy and donate toys around the holiday season. For this woman it's a tradition. The video says that she was walking by the store and saw a "for rent" sign in the window. She called the owner and soon purchased all of the toys With the money the owner was able to keep his store and now thousands of children will have at least one present to open on Christmas.

I think that when schools or churches or any other groups of people come together and do a toy drive or can food drive, especially around the holiday season, it really makes the community stronger and it makes a lot of people who don't have much happy. When things are given from the heart it not only increases a sense of unity but it also bonds people together. With all of the awful tragedies happening lately I found this article to be very pleasing and heartwarming. It's important to remember to look for the goods things happening in the world when there are also disasters occurring. I believe that this reminds use that today's society also has redeeming qualities and things can go right even though in the moment they may seem to be falling apart. Watch the video in the link if you feel like smiling.

  1. Wow! This women really should be applauded for her generosity! I am so glad that people like this still exist in this very sad and scary world. I hope more people follow suit, even if it is on a smaller scale. Anything can help make the world a better place.

  2. I agree with you. Giving back to the community to kids who are less fortunate is very popular around the holiday time and I think it does bring together the city.
