Obama held an official meeting with Cuba's president, Rual Castro this past Saturday in Panama City. Obama decided that after 50 years of unchanged policy, it was time for something new. Both presidents met for about an hour. Castro was very open and they both admitted to having to agree to disagree at time, however it was respectful. Not since 1958, when Dwight Eisenhower met with Fulgencio Batista, had a U.S. and Cuban leader had a substantial meeting. They are hoping to create good relations between the countries. Obama is still working through and thinking over taking Cuba off the terrorist list. This would be a huge thing for Cuba and American. Considering the close proximity of the two countries, this could be very beneficial. Ever since the Cuban missile crisis things had been kind of wonky.
