Marco Rubio has announced that he will be joining the 2016 presidential race. He is the son of Cuban immigrants and shares his personal story in the announcement. He takes a swipe at his fellow Democrat competition Hillary Clinton. "Just yesterday, a leader from yesterday began a campaign for President by promising to take us back to yesterday," he said. "But yesterday is over, and we are never going back." He says that he will spend some of this week finishing work in the Senate and then he will fly up to New York to attend some fundraisers. Many politicians are not surprised by his announcement, but surprised that he is adding a personal twist to it.
I think that it is great that Rubio is deciding to run for president. 2016 by far has the most diverse candidates ever. Two of them are first generation American citizens, Hispanic and Cuban, one is a white man, and the other is a white woman. No matter what happens, this election will change history and set a new record. I'm excited for this election to happen because I think that elections are so interesting such as the election of 1968 and 1980.
