103 Year Old Orca Spotted- Lauren Kuehmeier, period 2
Recently the oldest known orca or "granny"- 103 years old- has been spotted off Canada's western coast along with her pod after finishing a 800 mile journey. This proves to be problematic for SeaWorld, who claims that an orcas lifespan is a fact not yet known and says its unusual to live past 20 because their trapped orcas have yet to live past 20 years old. A possible reason for the shorted life span is long-distance swimming is integral to orcas’ psychological health and well-being; SeaWorld, however, has gone on record claiming that orcas do not need to swim hundreds of miles regularly. This is simply a pack of lies SeaWorld has been feeding its guests and investigators so their cruelty can be covered up.
This sighting has brought light to the ignorance and lies of SeaWorld and will hopefully put an end to such a barbaric institution. It has been too long that these animals have been kept miserable and enslaved for human amusement. Orcas have incredible abilities that are being oppressed by the unnatural pools they're forced into. Though the cruelties have been brought to light by recent movies, a sighting like this shows SeaWorld the un-ignorable truth.
