Texas ban on same-sex marriage. Juliana Cortez Pd.3

On Wednesday, Texas has become the latest state to have a federal judge strike down its same-sex marriage ban, thanks to the sweeping decision.

still, gay rights supporters believed that the judgement, because of what it said, has special significance. Texas democratic party chairman Gilberto Hinojosa called Wednesday "a historic day" for the LGBT community and as well as the state of Texas. Victor holmes, one of the four plaintiffs that brought the lawsuit, raised his fist in the air and cried "WHOO HOO" as a reaction to what he called "an awesome first step." Those who remain on the other side of the debate, have promised to keep fighting. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said that his office WILL challenge the ruling, which is to be heard by the federal appeals court in New Orleans.
