Recently 158 passengers and 14 crew members have
come down with noroviru, which is a contagious virus that is often caught
on ships. At least 158 of 3,009 passengers and 14 of 1,160 crew members came
down with the virus aboard the Crown Princess during a 28-day
cruise. Princess Cruises' Crown Princess was on a nearly-month long
trip. This ship had sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii and Tahiti. The ship began
seeing an increased number of gastrointestinal illnesses, caused by
norovirus. The cruise line also made announcements to notify onboard
passengers of the outbreak, encouraging hand hygiene. Norovirus is known
for being quite contagious. It causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea and is
believed to have infected passengers on a number of cruise ships this year.
Recently so many viruses have been going around causing even death like Ebola
and even Meningitis. Even though people are not dying from this virus people
need to be careful and take the sanitary precautions so
others do not get sick or it become something bigger.

That's scary because when you go on a cruise, you are stuck on the ship for a long time. This outbreak that has been occurring is just like any disease that has had an outbreak in American history. Hopefully they keep it under control and find some cure to keep people from catching it.

This reminds me of a recent story when a nurse who cared for a patient with ebola went on a cruise and ended up making the whole ship go back to land a few days after they departed because she needed to be tested for the virus. I find it coincidental that the issue of a disease being harbored or spread on a ship has come up more than once within a few months time.
