Ferguson Is Waiting... By Myles Bennett

The people of Ferguson are anxiously waiting to hear what the St. Louis County grand jury to make a decision in the Michael Scott case.

Analysis: This case can be related to segregation and feelings of racism in the past. Michael Brown was an African American teenage boy shot by a white male cop. White men feeling superior to African American people is not an uncommon pattern in American history. White men owned African American slaves for many years. There was segregation after slavery was banned and "colored people" couldn't drink from the same water fountain, eat at the same bus, or even sit in the front of the bus if a white person wanted their seat. Sadly, the feelings of white male superiority haven't seemed to go away.

  1. It is really sad that this is still an issue. Our generation has to be one that fights for racial reconciliation.

  2. Racism is a very difficult problem to over come. But it is important to keep in mind that many people with this attitude were probably being told and taught this from a very young age. I am curios if it's this much of a problem for other countries though.

  3. I have a feeling that the decision could possibly lead to more violent activity.
