A moratorium has been placed on all Greek activities on the campus of West Virginia University. This past week a young man was found dead at a fraternity house. This is not the first time in the past week the police have been out to the campus for Greek related disturbances. Police have not released the details of this week's death.
To add to the questionable fraternity activities, in September another fraternity brother went running with some of his other fraternity brothers and mysteriously went missing. He was later found in a lake near the campus dead from a head injury. The fraternity brothers were not charged in the death.
The University has suspended the activities. Is that enough to suspend any further hazing and fraternity activities. History has shown that these groups need more rules, supervision and legal consequences. This may help to stop the careless acts which place members in danger or even cause their death. The University should also be held accountable since these activities take place on the school campus.
