In their 'synthesis report', the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has said with near-complete certainty that humans are the cause of global warming, and that continued pollution and global temperature rise will create increased potential for "severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts for people and ecosystems,". Upon the release of the document, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told reporters that something must be done in the near future, saying that "Leaders must act." and that "Time is not on our side."
The report contains multiple ideas for projects and solutions on how to achieve the objective of preventing a 2-degree Celsius increase in global temperatures. This objective has been the goal of many governments for the past decade, and although low-carbon emissions machines are a large part of the solution, there is the question as to whether or not the large-scale transition from normal combustion engines to low-emissions ones is economically feasible. With smaller nations it would; however, to nations such as the United States, such a transition would be financially stressful and unrealistic, with such a large populace already relying on cars that produce greenhouse gases.
I think that we should try to transfer to green cars, so we don't have seagulls living in our backyards, and weekly supercell hurricanes, and New York City under 6 feet of seawater and stuff like that.
