Former California state senator serves small portion of sentence- Amanda Cervantes p.4

Former California state senator Ron Wright was convicted of perjury and voter fraud but only served half an hour of a 90 day sentence. The Los Angeles Times reported that he was released because of  jail crowding. Wright resigned his seat and was also placed on probation for three years and was ordered to complete 1,500 hours of community service.

This news is somewhat frustrating and confusing, it reveals how people who have the power or status can get themselves out of situations easily, compared to someone whose just a regular citizen, and whats more unsettling is that Wrights original sentence wasn't even that grave either- just 90 days that is nothing anyone cant handle. And thinking about all those people who are sentenced for crimes of the same intensity or even less intensity of those convicted by Wright and end up serving much greater sentences because they cant get out of it.
