Recently there was a girl who decided to end her life by over dosing on medication after she had been diagnosed with a terminally ill disease. She claimed that dying this way was a lot better than undergoing the side effects from chemo treatment or any other way medical assistance may have tried to help her. Although it is sad that a life was lost, this is what the patient wanted.
The controversy in this case is that there are many people who believe that suicide is wrong and there are others who want to support the woman by understanding she is now at her happiest. The girl did not want to be diagnosed with such an illness, but it was a long and hard choice for her to come up with this decision. I think that if the patient wanted her life to go like this is this situation, it was the right thing to happen. I do not think people should commit suicide in general, but if it is the choice of paying tons of money for chemo, or deciding on your own to pass, it brings a lot more things to the equation. This must have been hard for her family but i think she is happier not being sick. In the past there has been tons of controversy in peoples opinions such as when the delegates were writing the constitution but things get worked out. This can be related to the death penalty in court decision. Death is a very personal thing so people have always had mixed opinions. Many states have rules over assisted suicide and its apparent here.
