Michigan State will pay $500 million to survivors of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse in what is believed to be the largest settlement ever in a sexual misconduct case involving a university.Attorneys representing 332 claimants reached an agreement with representatives from Michigan State during a  meeting Tuesday afternoon. The university's board of trustees agreed to the deal in principle. Michigan State's agreement stipulates that $425 million will be given  to survivors who are currently part of the lawsuits. The remaining $75 million will be held in reserve for two years in the event that others come forward and make claims about Nassar's abuse. The settlement did not require any of the claimants to sign nondisclosure agreements.
This is great for the survivors. Everyday some has to go through the unimaginable horrors of sexual abuse and society’s has gotten so used to it we don’t process how horrible these situations really are. I believe they everyone deserves to receive this money because it shows how the school system needs to take risks responsibility when things do go wrong. With Nassars 100+ years in prison I believe the survivors are satisfied but nothing will ever make them forget the horrors they undured by the man. This is important to US history because it’s the biggest college payout to sexual abuse victims  by staff members to date.
