Maryland has joined several other states in officially making Gay conversion camp/therapy illegal. The Youth Mental Health Protection Act was signed and finalized by governor Larry Hogan, and the abusive and scarring tactics used in conversion therapy was finally recognized.
Several health organizations have deemed conversion therapy completely ineffective, and that they can cause mental issues, such as depression, anxiety, and self destructive behavior. The president of the Human Rights Campaign called Maryland “A better place for countless young people” after the ruling.
I found ,what I think, is the perfect synthesis for this, Baehr V. Lewin. In 1993, the Hawaii supreme court ruled that prohibition against same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. A huge step in the right direction for the LGBT community, just like the YMHP act.
