Fatima Gonzalez: NO High Heels!

On May 4, 2018, Kristen Stewart attended the "BlacKkKlansman" premiere at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. During her walk on the red carpet, she decided to take off her high heels and walk barefoot the whole way. She did this because she wanted to protest the strict rule for Cannes of women having to wear high heels. She said "If you're not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, then you can't ask me either."

I believe this relates with A.P.U.S.H because it talks about the controversies of women having to follow strict rules and men not having this types of problems. Women should be allowed to express themselves as they please without having to follow such rules. It was a bold chose for Kristen to do that. Although its not as powerful as any other women's act story but its a small step for women that could make a huge difference later.

  1. If find it outrageous that women are required to wear high hears for a public event. I am proud of her and hope more will follow in her footsteps so that this discrimination ends.

  2. This is like when The Feminine Mystique came out and it went against what most people thought the femine standard was and Im glad she stayed to what she believed.

The fact that celebrities such as Kristen Stewart are bringing attention to issues regarding the image of the typical, sterotypical female helps encourage change.
