Lady Gaga has always voiced her opinion on the case of Kesha Serbert vs. Dr. Luke. This time she goes Disney on us. Comparing the music producer to the voice-stealing villain from the Little Mermaid movie from Disney Animation, she causes a huge wave of attention to the issue. In case you don't follow the ongoing court battle, Kesha has tried to break from her contract with the music producer on the grounds that he sexually assaulted her. Although the battle has not been successful, we get small ounces of hope, such as Kesha announcing she would perform at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, however this is when Gaga comes into play. After alleged reports that her performance would be a public dig at Dr. Luke, the music producer and his label pulled the performance. After it was made clear that she wouldn't perform, Gaga took to twitter to point out the fact that Dr. Luke is not letting Kesha speak or have a voice, much like Ursula did to Ariel in the Disney classic.
This article can synthesize to our very own constitution - the first amendment. The first amendment gives the right to free speech, and in this case, that law is not being abided. If Kesha has the right to free speech, how is she not allowed to defend herself publically? The question is who is going to stand up and show the world that she is an American with rights? Gaga started to, let's see if this ball can keep on rolling.
