In the 2017 federal budget proposal, Obama has cut $10 million a year from the Department of Health and Human Services, which supports abstinence-only education programs. $4 million is being redirected to the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. Statistics show that abstinence-only education doesn't help lower teen pregnancy rates. In fact, in states where abstinence-only replaces real sex-ed, the teen pregnancy rate is far higher. Just like the Vietnam War, abstinence-only education was founded on ignorance and wasted millions of taxpayer dollars.
