Texas Girl Rope Injury | Jillian Linnear P.8

A 12 year-old girl in Waco Texas received a rope burn around her neck while on a camping trip with her school. Apparently the children were playing with the rope and three white boys came from behind this 12 year-old black girl, wrapped it around her neck and proceeded to drag her. The school and students claim that it was all an accident but, her family and lawyer say otherwise. The lawyer and family is suing the school for 2.7 million dollars saying that it will compensate for future tuition costs.

This article is very important to the modern day society because there are some people that believe that race is not a problem. When situations like this prove otherwise. I very much so believe this was racially motivated because if every other white child wasn't harmed and one out of two black kids on the trip was harmed, that tells us a lot. Race is very much so a big problem in our world today and no matter what we try to eliminate the judgement that comes with it, it cannot be eliminated. Racial hatred is embedded deep within today's society, as we see with 12 year-old children acting violently against others. Furthermore, the fight for racial equality is far from over and it will be this way for quite a while because it is hard to erase something that has been deeply embedded into the minds of others.

  1. Incidents like these shouldn't still be happening. It's sad that even children are affected by something as vile as racism.
