Textbooks messing with our heads again :/ Maddie Hanratty, 8th period

Notice anything weird?
"As far as math books go, this one's not adding up."

The cover of this math textbook has boggled the minds of many Twitter users, gaining the attention of many. Some consider it similar to "Inception", in that the models are posing for the textbook cover, while holding the textbook they are on the cover of in their arms. How did they do it??? Is it time travel or photoshop?? Twitter may never know. Responses such as "IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE" and "They are taking an advanced class in 'Inception'" have surfaced on social media.

This incident reminds me of the many times textbooks have taught students flawed content. For example, the incident last year in October when the mother of a high school freshman had to "remind" writers that African immigration to America did not start with Africans coming as "workers", which makes it sound like they came for some sort of job opportunity, when really they were forced into slavery by white supremacists trying to make a profit. This textbook cover is obviously much less serious than that, but still showcases the shenanigans of the writers/editors involved.

In the end, Ron Larson has some explaining to do.
(this post is basically a PSA to turn your books in to the Book Lord)

  1. Haha that's pretty weird. Textbooks are written by people, and sometimes people can be wrong.
