Analysis: I'm sorry to hear that this happened to the little boy but I am also relieved that the theory about punching sharks is gradually being proven. It is just so sad and nerve-racking that you can not have fun without having to worry about sharks. I hope the kid feels better, and I am glad that he only suffered from a minor hand injury, because of his smart actions by punching the shark.http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/04/us/florida-shark-attack/index.html

Carrington Whigham: Shark Bite
Summary: Recently in Volusia County Florida, Beach, a 14 year old boy was bitten by a Black Tip Shark. The Black Tip os a 3-4 foot shark, that is common in the area. The boy was surfing with four friends when he was bit on the hand by the shark. The boy punched the shark and it left. He then swam to shore and immediately received help from the beach officers. The bite has now caused the boy to have serious ligament damage.

It's good that he only had minor injuries, but we need to figure out why sharks are coming into shallow waters.
ReplyDeletePunching sharks? Interesting, I've never heard this theory. Also, I wonder if the conditions are unique to that area. Maybe it is common for them to see sharks in shallow areas.
ReplyDeleteAll over the US shark attacks are becoming more and more common, if this is going to be a more likely thing to happen, humans have to be able to know the signs that a shark could be nearby. Glad the boy is somewhat okay and hope the hand heals so he can continue punching.
