Several troops, both American and Afghani, have died in an increased rate as of late, as seasonal changes that would have previously slowed down advancement of Taliban troops, have not halted the advancement of those extremists. The Afghan forces have wished to push for some sort of ceasefire with the Taliban in order to prevent further deaths, both military and civilian. The Taliban has also expressed a wish for doing everything possible to "Minimize civilian losses.
This article was written by Reuters, which is a reliable and unbiased source that covers stories consistently from across the world. I find the wish for a ceasefire of some sort rather concerning, especially since it may leave people who are suffering under the taliban stuck in their situation. I also find the Taliban's statement that they want to reduce civilian losses laughable, since they are the whole source for the suffering in Afghanistan. I find this situation to resemble the push of some northerners during the civil war to simply let the south go, which also would have left the slaves to suffer in the South
