slovakia elects first female president - will goodell
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/mar/31/slovakia-elects-zuzana-caputova-first-female-president
slovakia elected its first female president this past week, zuzana caputova a 45 year old lawyer and anti corruption campaigner won 58 % of the votes and will take office this june. caputova says her victory shows "you can win without attacking your opponents, something that was very common in our 2016 election, caputova , a political outsider who was polling in single digits a few months before the vote, she based her campaign on standing up to evil and bsed importance on humanity, solidarity and truth. caputova previously worked as a civil defence lawyer and climate activist. I think this a very monumental feat for slovakia and shows that women in power shouldn't be a foreign concept, and that the united states should follow suit!

This makes me so happy! I especially love what she said about her victory. I think it's really hard for people to compete without attacking- we could all use a lesson from her. -Miranda Farrar
