Buttigieg Confronted by Religious Protestor- Hadley McGhee

Pete Buttigieg, the first openly gay U.S. Presidential candidate, was accosted at an Iowa town hall today by a religious protestor. While Buttigieg was advocating for marriage equality, a protestor stood up, shouted "You betray your baptism," and was escorted out. Buttigieg remained composed and joked that "coffee after church gets a little rowdy sometimes." Buttigieg also said that he respected the protestor's passion. As for how this pertains to US History, I think that Buttigieg has shown the restraint and poise that all of our great presidents have shown. In a day and age where insults are thrown a dime a dozen, I think that it is important that we recognize the composure of Buttigieg and view him not just as a gay man or a democrat, but as a level headed man who could very well end up running our country.
