Jordan Gillette- Notre Dame fire extinguished

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47953795

Summary: On April 16th, BBC released an article on the topic of the Notre Dame fire that broke out on Monday evening in Paris. The fire ravaged the South side of the cathedral, and dragged down the iconic spire into the flames. Firefighters from all around Paris gathered at the 12th-century to carefully take out the fires, without trying to damage the wood in the process, which Trump clearly didn't consider when he sent out a tweet about having helicopters drop water onto the delicate structure. They fought through the night and in the morning, managing to extinguish the fire within a crucial half hour before collapsing. Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has promised to rebuild the Paris icon on behalf of the entire country's mourning.

Analysis: This is a terrible accident but it's also a little ironic, isn't it? The cathedral caught fire because of an accident caused during repair? I don't know, just a little food for thought. I mourn for France and the loss of Notre Dame's priceless artwork and iconic spire, but I am thankful the rest of the cathedral survived the brutal burning. Before reading this article I had heard about the burning of Notre Dame all throughout the day on Monday, and apprehensively waited for the arrival of the news that the fire was extinguished. This article was written by the writing staff at BBC (the names weren't listed), and this article was written because the people at BBC need to make a living so they write about current events for their paychecks and then go home. The burning of Notre Dame can be related to the burning of the White House during the War of 1812 and the impact that made on the United States.

  1. That was a devastating fire. As a student taking French, I've learned so much about the Notre Dame Cathedral.
