Is Anxiety Hereditary? Experts Are Still Searching For A Definitive Answer- Rachel DuBard

As there are many cases of anxiety along with different kinds, experts began questioning how much of it is hereditary. There are many factors that play a role in development of GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) one of them being genes. Experts believe that both environmental and biological factors contribute to onset anxiety. They also say a person can be five times more prone to develop anxiety disorder if they have a close relative with the condition.

For years now there have been many mysteries pertaining to anxiety disorders. Especially considering there are many types. And although there isn’t a whole lot of research, they’ve been studying this since 2015 working to discover how anxiety is caused.

  1. It wouldn't surprise me if anxiety is hereditary. I think this extremely relevant today, as depression and anxiety in young people is way higher than it has been in the past. If we can figure out what causes anxiety, then hopefully we can better help people who struggle with this. -Miranda Farrar
