"For 20 years, we’ve heard participants in our focus groups say they would vote for a woman, just not that woman,” said Amanda Hunter, research and communications director at the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, which supports women in politics. This learning objective for the New York Times goes back hundreds of years where women have been suppressed of the luxuries a man has in today’s society. Throughout history there have been hundreds of instances where women have gone to great lengths to earn the same recognition a man gets. How is it fair? Will society ever conform to a true gender non-bias through all aspects of life? From Abigail Adams to Rosa Parks, women have been an equal amount of help to grow our country into what it is today and have contributed to the successes of each man. However, we will never have equal respect, which is really upsetting.
