Payless is closing all its US stores - Daniela Rodriguez

Payless has announced it's closing all its US stores and online stores. Due to its reliance on "brick and mortar" stores and the increasing popularity of online shopping, with sites like Amazon and Zappos, revenue has greatly decreased. Millions of dollars have been lost, and Payless has officially filed for bankruptcy. Much like the Gilded Age, bigger, more powerful companies like Amazon are running the smaller ones out of business due to monopolizing the industry.

Nevertheless, the difference is that Amazon isn't running a full monopoly but simply is a large competitor. Still, I'll be sad to see the place where I got my first pair of tap shoes leave the market. Small stores like these do end up being sentimental, but overall, sadly I wouldn't go visit Payless for another reason.
