An airstrike commenced on Monday as US-led Coalition forces struck against one of the last remaining ISIS strongholds in the Deir al-Zor province in eastern Syria. Convoys of refugees left the besieged city of Baghouz totaling in around 1,500 people. There are present concerns over possible resurgence of ISIS activity following an incoming withdrawal of US troops due to an order by President Trump to take out all military forces from Syria. High up leaders in the US military believe that an early withdrawal would leave ISIS as a threat.
This article shows an accurate analysis of the ongoing situation regarding the presence of an ISIS-related threat, establishing Reuters as an evermore good source of unbiased and in-depth reporting. I believe this to represent how we are currently standing on the cusp of an incredibly important decision, one that will decide the fate of millions across the world and that of an evil organization. I believe we must keep troops in Syria to insure the destruction of ISIS and that no more physical or psychological harm may befall the survivors of the torturous arm of ISIS
This event has some resemblance towards the presence of Confederate troops in Texas even after a peace treaty was signed between the North and the South. The Civil War had already been declared over by this point, and many people from the Union were ready to throw in the towel, but many troops were still fighting on behalf of the wretched slaveholders in Texas, maintaining a sizeable enclave of enemy forces there. This relates to the US being ready to leave Syria before the full brunt of ISIS has even been taken care of.
