worlds first hydrogen powered train! will goodell

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/world-first-hydrogen-powered-train-152244466.html

The world's first hydrogen powered train took to the tracks last week in northern germany, and relied solely on hydrogen. The train is much cleaner than diesel emitting trains, and leaves no co2 emissions or greenhouse gasses behind, although the train is significantly more expensive than other carbon emitting ones. The trains can travel 1000 km on one tank of hydrogen, and only take about 15 minutes to refill, which is much quicker than most trains. Hydrogen fuel cells are among the most practical alternatives to carbon emitting trains, and are also very eco friendly!

I think this new prototype will be a big step in the direction of better sustainable public transportation, and hopefully to a better, less polluted world and future. This new invention reminds me vaguely of the Ford brand T cars that were the first prototype cars at the time that were being mass produced, as well as the pony express.

  1. It makes me so happy to hear that people are taking steps like this considering how damaged our environment already is and that natural gas that we depend on won't last us much longer. I wonder what it's going to take for projects like this one to happen in the US?

  2. I agree and am so glad that they have started producing these kind of trains. Even though it is more expensive, I think it’s worth it because we really need to take care of our Earth and keep it clean. We have polluted our atmosphere so much already and need to find alternatives to greenhouse gas and carbon emitting machines. Hopefully, more countries utilize this example in their public transportation. Also, I hope we can take this invention and use it in our cars and buses today. Lily Philips

  4. This is amazing! It’s so great to see people trying to help the pollution problem. I hope this starts to happen in other places around the world too. We need to start making larger leaps in helping our planet. Hopefully in the future there will be cheaper technology to help build this- Sophie Knox

  5. It’s incredible to see something new come into effect and how there will be a day when people will not give these incredible technologies a second thought. I would love to hear what connection could be made to an event in the past.

  6. This makes me so happy! It is always great to hear about the steps being taken to get closer to a more environmentally friendly world. Our fossil fuel supply is diminishing, so this is a great step towards an alternative.
