The article says that American generally agree with the first amendment and that it protects our freedom of speech but there are disagreements over where, when, and how and if speech should but limited or restricted. It’s say that the lesson should reinforce the robustness of the first amendment protections of speech. Also this lesson it to deepen their understanding of the current interpretation of speech rights under the first amendment.
I agree the first amendment does give us the right to say what we want but we should know our limits on what we say because there could be consequences for the things that come out of our mouths. And also when they created the first amendment it was made so that everyone got to voice their opinions on things without being told not to say it but today people just say what they want and don’t think about the consequences after.
I agree that one should be aware when exercising their right to free speech if they are prepared to deal with the consequences of their words. If not, things get sticky.

People should be more grateful for their rights as citizens, but it can get out of hand especially when lives are at state.
