Lily McCollum -- South Carolina Flooding

https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2018/09/24/south-carolina-is-enduring-some-its-worst-flooding-florence-more-than-week-after-it-departed/?utm_term=.c3d09326e7d7

After Hurricane Florence, there is still very bad flooding in South Carolina. The flood keeps getting worse even though the storm began over a week ago. The storm has killed more than 40 people so far, because most of these cities are not used to this intense of floods.

It is important that we do not forget about Hurricane Florence. Many people think that the problem is solved when the storm is over, but people are still in danger. This article was written by Jason Samenow who has studied weather and climate for many years. This article was made to inform people about the effects of Florence and that there is still a great issue.

Throughout American history, natural disasters have been a major problem, and often the aftermath gets overlooked. Events like Hurricane Katrina have a large impact on the communities affected and leave a mark on the county as a whole.

  1. Chloe Meinershagen - I think it's definitely true that when a crisis happens, people only care about it for a moment and then go back to their lives. It's sad, but it happened with the California fires and genocides like the one in Rwanda.

  2. I agree, i think we need to be making a difference now and maybe preparing for them sooner.

  3. Unfortunately, we cannot control mother nature, but we can control how we assist those in need long after the physical storm is over.

  4. I agree that once the storm is over, there is still the aftermath which is just as bad. People in the area shouldn't rely on their own resources to clean up the mess, I think our nation should be in support.
