In this article, it talks about sexual assault faced by a woman when she was on a plane. She met a guy named Vela and made conversation and then when she fell asleep Vela sexually assaulted her, he rubbed her thighs, grabbed her breasts, and tried to put his hand under her shirt. When she woke up she was frozen in fear, and reported it and Vela eventually got arrested.
Sexual assault is such a huge issue nowadays and we really need to inform the newer generations that it is wrong so they do not grow up and do what Vela did. Throwing them in jail honestly means nothing to the victim because they have already gone through what has happened. We should learn to prevent these types of things not do something after the damage has been done.
Even though putting assaulters in jail won't undo what happened to the victim, I still think it's important that people know there are consequences.
ReplyDeleteSexual assault has become more and more apparent in the media. Its sad to see how even if the assulters are put in jail that the victims are still in pain.
ReplyDeleteJust reading this makes me shiver, imagining being in her place. It's awful that that happened to her, but I'm so glad that she had the courage to report it. Yes, sexual assault is becoming more apparent in the media, but at least that means that people are finally able to speak up about it. Hopefully that will lead to a reduction in the number of assaults.
ReplyDeleteSexual assault is a very serious matter that we need to help get rid of. It is very sad how they have to have that memory of being assualted like that and how there’s nothing they can do about it
