Grayson Decker -Florence floodwaters result in 'islands' of floating fire ants
Not only did Florence destroy and bring lots of flooding to North Carolina, but also brought large clumps of floating fire ants. With all the flooding, all the ants in North Carolina were displaced from their homes in the grounds which can be up to 4 feet deep. They create massive islands of ants in order to float. The people are scared of these ants for good reason. If you come into contact with them, chances are you will be stung multiple times, with extra venom they develop when they are away from their colonies. It is recommended that the people have to wear protective clothing like boots gloves, long pants and shirts, and socks.
Natural disasters happen all through out history, the most memorable being Hurricane Katrina. Hurricanes go through and ruin the lives of all people who live in the area.
With hurricanes we see a lot of threats arise, and that is when it is nevessary for people to follow the rukes of the government and evacuate when necessary, etc.
ReplyDeleteRose Tharp -- Yeah, it's important to know these kinds of dangers when you don't really notice them otherwise. sure, drowning and blunt force trauma are obvious threats, but nobody thinks about the little things, like infected cuts, and bug bites.
