A 74-year-old man has been discovered alive five days after his apartment complex in Washington caught on fire but nobody knew he was missing. Some of the doors had swelled because of the fire's heat, Kilsheimer said, which prevented them from being opened. Workers had to use crowbars to pry some doors open. Some have also voiced concerns the building's fire alarms didn't go off when the blaze broke out last week, according to CNN affiliate WJLA.
This article was written by Dakin Andone and uploaded at 5:11 PM , Mon September 24. Which is only a few hours from me writing this and it gives the article a feeling of being rushed the ideas are not fully developed. I knew about a building in Washington catching on fire but didn't know a man was in the remains for five days. My prior knowledge only helped to further demonstrate the problem and shock on a man being in there for five days. This further connects to all the other disasters or tragedies were people have died or gone unnoticed. The article seems to almost feel responsible for not noticing this man and really thoroughly tell his story to make up for it. My concerns are that the fire alarms did not sound and that is extremely dangerous. Whether this man had people in his life that noticed he was missing is besides the point. WE should be on top of things like this when it IS in our control so we can save lives.
