Senate Democrats Investigate a New Allegation of Sexual Misconduct, from Brett Kavanaugh’s College Years -Martina D’Orso

          Brett Kavanaugh has once again been accused of sexual assault by another female, in their college years at Yale University. Deborah Ramirez, has accused Kavanaugh of sexually harassing her at a college dorm party during the 1983-84 school year. She describes herself as being very inebriated and Kavanaugh even more, thus creating gaps in her memory which will be used against her when both testify to court on Thursday. Kavanaugh has once more refuted the sexual allegations made against him and says he will be glad to testify on Thursday. Many of Kavanaugh and Ramirez’s classmates have been contacted and opinions on whether Kavanaugh may have assaulted Ramirez are mixed. Some say that Ramirez is too honest and that she was kind of an outsider and that Kavanaugh was a relatively misogynistic person so they defend Ramirez. Others, say that Ramirez never spoke about this and that Kavanaugh would never do anything of the sort to anyone.

          The article was written on September 23, 2018 by Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer. Previously, I had already known of another allegation made against Kavanaugh by another woman. This gives me even more of a negative or repulsive attitude towards Kavanaugh because sexual assault is something serious that no woman should have to endure and the fact that she will probably be brushed off because she was drunk and couldnt remember some events just shows the type of society we live in where women will always be victim blamed one way or another. This article relates to US History because even after everything women have endured to get to where they are now and for everything they have had to fight for to get a glimpse at equality with men we still face challenges like these that are what will forever keep women from being equal with men. The article was written for audiences who want to keep up on Kavanaugh and his accusations to see how that will impact the White House and it sheds a negative light on him and those backing him up.
